Celebrating

We just got back from Florida about a week ago and things are finally settling down.

I always have such mixed emotions returning home. I'm thankful to get back to our house and our routine, but sad to leave family and friends behind.

We did have a good time in Florida. And although it was early, we got to celebrate Emma's birthday!

Emma's birthday party was done in a woodland/ fairy theme. I decided to make a lot of the decorations since her room is done in the same theme. That way we could just reuse them as bedroom decorations.

My mom and I made the cake and cupcakes. I made the cake topper using wood supplies that I bought to make look like a tiny forest with mushrooms. The fairy on the cake topper was handmade by
Princess Nimble Thimble. I just adore her figurines. We are the proud owner of four of her dolls, and I'm sure we will be purchasing more in the future!

Emma looked very pretty and festive in the mushroom dress and matching birthday crown that I made for her. I just love the print!

I am very happy to say that Emma's birthday was full of handmade and natural toys. Emma's gift from us was a handmade doll made by Zelda's Closet. I cannot say enough good things about this doll! It is perfect in every way. She even sends the dolls with birth cerificates. We decided to name the baby June, since that was a name we were really considering using for Emma.

My mom bought Emma the "Good Earth Fairy" made by Myam. It's an all natrual doll. She also scored an awesome brand new wooden high chair for Emma's new doll from the Goodwill!

Miss Mandi made her a beautiful knot dress!

And I have to say one of my favorite gifts was from my dad and Jenn. On very short notice I asked my dad to make a doll cradle. And this is what he came up with:

Emma also received a ton of beautiful clothes, some fun toys and money which helped purchase her new carseat since she's out growing her infant one.

Of course the day did not go uneventful. Emma ended up coming down with a fever and threw up before the night ended. My sweet toothed girl even passed up her birthday cake and fell asleep in her high chair. It was until I pulled her out to lay her down that I noticed she was BURNING up.

Then, while Jacob was playing outside he fell and hit the back of his head on my mom's SUV, resulting in a pretty big bump and gash.

Other than that, we had a great time! Thank you to everyone who helped share in Emma's special day. We love you all so much!

And just for fun, I just had to do this...

Happy Anniversary

June 9th is a very special day for us. Not only is it Emma's birthday, but it is also me and Mike's anniversary.

3 years. 2 babies. 1 big move to another state. We've been quite the busy pair.

Thank you so much for coming into my life, Mike. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you!

I've had big dreams come true
and I believe in Angels
although I can't see them
They're watching over everything I do
Ain't no easy street around the bend on my road
No pot of gold at the end of my rainbow
But I don't mind cause baby I got you

The rain keeps the flowers from dying
The sun lights the world when its shines
The midnight sky has a blanket of stars and the moon
And baby I got you

I can't imagine one day without you in it
Life alone just wouldn't be worth living
Love would be a wish that never came true
Lord knows I've got more than I deserve
But I don't question the prayers I've been answered
I did something right cause
Baby I got you

Happy Birthday

Our little Emma Elizabeth is one!

Emma,

I can’t believe my tiny little baby girl is a year old. Where has the time gone? I remember you being born like it were yesterday. And although it was during a very trying and emotional time for our family, you were that little ray of sunshine we needed.

You were so tiny and sweet, a perfect little girl.

Now look at you. You’re growing bigger and bigger by the day. Learning new things and becoming your own little person full of life and wonder.

I love how you are so loving. One of your favorite things is giving hugs and kisses. You love cuddling with Mommy and chasing Daddy around playing “peek-a-boo”.

Some of my most cherished moments are those spent watching you and Jacob laugh and play together.

You love to dance, “help” mommy with laundry, jump on the bed, crawl over anybody who is on the floor, play outside, and most of all: YELL at the top of your lungs!

You have been so much fun. I feel so lucky to be your mama. I can’t wait to see what else you have to offer this world.

I love you little Emmylou!

Love you always,
Mommy, Daddy & Jakey
